POSITION
We have a full time position available for a Cook in Diwan, QLD 4873.
SKILLS
The role requires you to hold a Certificate III including at least two years of on the job training or a Certificate IV and at least 12 months relevant work experience. At least 3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cook is responsible for the preparation, cooking, presentation and packaging of a range of high-quality breakfast and lunch meals, including takeaway food. The position will contribute to the ongoing development of the food offering by creating seasonal menus that reflect customer preferences, locally available produce and seasonal ingredients The Cook will work independently and as part of the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared consistently, efficiently and in accordance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
POSITION DUTIES
- Develop and introduce seasonal breakfast and lunch menus suitable for dine-in and takeaway service.
- Prepare and cook a range of breakfast and lunch dishes in accordance with recipes and presentation standards.
- Trial and refine new dishes to ensure appropriate taste, presentation, portion size, preparation time and food cost.
- Assist management with menu costing, ingredient selection and pricing recommendations.
- Maintain appropriate storage of ingredients in accordance with safe food handling procedures.
- Ensure continuous supply and menu options on offer.
- Maintain knowledge of all current menu items, associated recipes and preparation procedures.
- Prepare and produce ice cream and gelato from scratch using fresh ingredients and seasonal fruits including measuring, mixing, churning, freezing, portioning and storing products.
- Monitor the quality, flavour, texture and consistency of ice cream and other prepared food items.
- Monitor the ongoing availability of ingredients and stock required to perform preparation of menu items and report any requirement for orders to the Owner.
- Engage in appropriate stock rotation procedures to reduce waste and minimise product wastage through appropriate preparation procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all food handling safety procedures at all times.
- Immediately report any incidents/ injuries to the Owner.
- Correctly store, label and rotate food products using appropriate stock rotation procedures.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure appropriate food storage and handling practices are followed.
- Maintain clean and sanitised food preparation areas, equipment, utensils and work surfaces.
- Ensure all company workplace health and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Perform general duties as required while maintaining clean work areas, professional presentation and appropriate care of company equipment and property.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues and customers, contribute to a strong team environment and deliver a high standard of customer service.

SALARY
The salary will be $70,000 - $80,000 per annum based on experience.
