Plumber & Gas Fitter – Remote Queensland Council

The Opportunity

A Remote Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Plumber & Gas Fitter to join its Engineering team and provide essential plumbing and gas services across Council and community infrastructure.

This is a hands-on trade role covering domestic, commercial and community facilities, with responsibility for installation, repairs, preventative maintenance and emergency works across plumbing, water, wastewater and gas systems. The position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

With a $125K – $130K base salary plus superannuation and significant overtime opportunities, subsidised accommodation, relocation assistance and a work vehicle provided, this is a strong package for an experienced tradesperson ready for a regional move.

About the Role

You will provide plumbing and gasfitting services across a diverse range of Council assets and community infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing and gas systems
  • Maintaining water distribution and wastewater infrastructure
  • Installing and repairing gas lines, appliances and associated systems
  • Undertaking rough-ins, fit-offs and general plumbing maintenance
  • Working on water treatment equipment, piping and controls
  • Undertaking roofing and solar hot water system works
  • Completing scheduled and preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all work complies with relevant codes, legislation and environmental requirements
  • Supervising and training a Plumbing Apprentice
  • Coordinating work with other trades, contractors and suppliers
  • Participating in emergency and after-hours call-outs as required

About You

You are a qualified Plumber and Gas Fitter who is comfortable working independently, enjoys variety and is prepared to take ownership of essential maintenance and repair work.

You will bring:

  • Recognised trade qualification in Plumbing
  • Current Queensland Plumber's Licence
  • Current Queensland Gas Fitter's Licence
  • Minimum 3 years' domestic and commercial plumbing experience
  • Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
  • Construction White Card or ability to obtain
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations and installation requirements
  • Ability to supervise, train and support apprentices
  • Willingness to participate in emergency call-outs, including nights and weekends
  • Strong commitment to WHS and safe working practices
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively within a remote Aboriginal community

Current First Aid and CPR certification is also required, or you must be prepared to obtain these upon commencement.
