Senior HR Advisor
The Opportunity
A Regional Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to provide practical, responsive support across its workforce.
This six-month fixed-term contract can be undertaken remotely, although onsite participation in Central West Queensland is preferred where possible. Accommodation can be arranged for the successful candidate if working onsite.
You will partner with leaders and employees to resolve workplace matters, strengthen HR practices and keep priority people initiatives moving.

- Base salary of $102,468.60–$112,351.20 per annum, pro rata for the six-month term

About the Role
Working closely with Council leaders, you will provide sound and timely advice across operational and strategic HR matters.
- Provide practical advice on employee relations, performance and workplace matters
- Support managers to interpret awards, legislation, policies and employment conditions
- Manage workplace issues with professionalism, fairness and confidentiality
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities
- Review and improve HR policies, procedures, templates and supporting resources
- Guide leaders through performance development and employee support processes
- Maintain accurate case records, correspondence and HR documentation
- Identify people-related risks and recommend practical solutions
- Contribute to priority HR projects throughout the contract period
About You
You will be a confident HR generalist who can quickly understand an organisation, build credibility and provide balanced advice.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior HR advisory or comparable generalist role
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, awards and contemporary HR practice
- Strong employee relations, case management and problem-solving capability
- Ability to communicate complex employment matters in clear and practical terms
- Confidence working independently while maintaining strong relationships remotely
- Well-developed judgement, discretion and attention to detail
- Availability to commence promptly and contribute for the full contract term
- A relevant qualification in human resources, business or a related discipline will be highly regarded
- Previous Local Government or public sector experience will be highly regarded
