Event Researcher (Talent Pool)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking expressions of interest from friendly, reliable and confident people interested in joining our pool of Casual Event Researchers for future assignments.

These are ad hoc opportunities supporting research activities at a variety of events, festivals and community activities. Assignments may range from a few hours to multiple shifts and could include weekday, evening or weekend work depending on the event.

This would suit someone looking for flexible casual work that can fit around other employment, study or personal commitments.

The Role

As an Event Researcher, your primary responsibility will be engaging directly with event attendees and conducting short face-to-face surveys using a supplied tablet or similar device.

You'll be positioned within designated areas and proactively approach attendees, explain the purpose of the research and guide willing participants through the survey. Previous assignments have involved researchers remaining active throughout their shifts and working towards survey participation targets.

Depending on the assignment, your responsibilities may include:

• Approaching event attendees and inviting participation in surveys
• Conducting short face-to-face interviews
• Accurately recording responses using a tablet
• Working within designated event locations
• Following research instructions and survey guidelines
• Representing the research team in a friendly and professional manner
• Working independently while remaining in contact with your supervisor
• Meeting reasonable survey participation targets throughout your shift

Training, instructions and the equipment required to undertake surveys will be provided for each assignment.

About You

We're looking for approachable people who are comfortable starting conversations with members of the public. You don't necessarily need previous market research experience, but you will need to be reliable, confident and able to follow instructions.

You will ideally have:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence approaching and speaking with strangers
• A friendly, professional and outgoing manner
• Good attention to detail when recording information
• Basic confidence using tablets and digital applications
• Ability to work independently and follow clear instructions
• Reliability and punctuality for allocated shifts
• Ability to remain on your feet and active throughout a shift
• Flexibility to undertake occasional evening or weekend work
