Graduate Civil Engineer

The Opportunity

Our client who is a first class civil engineering consultancy who is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join their experienced Cairns-based engineering team.

This is an opportunity to apply your technical skills to projects that have a genuine impact, from roads that connect communities and drainage systems that protect property, through to bridges, culverts, water infrastructure and land development projects.

This consultancy provides civil engineering and project management services across government, private development, infrastructure and regional projects throughout Far North Queensland and beyond. Their project portfolio includes roads and drainage, water and wastewater infrastructure, subdivisions, bridge and crossing works, airports and major infrastructure projects.

The Role

You will be a hands-on member of the engineering team, contributing to the planning, design and delivery of a broad range of civil infrastructure projects.

This is more than producing drawings and technical reports. You will see projects progress from concept and design through to construction and completion, working alongside experienced engineers, clients, contractors and other stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing practical and cost-effective civil infrastructure designs
• Supporting road, drainage, stormwater, water and land development projects
• Preparing technical drawings, documentation and engineering reports
• Assisting with project delivery and undertaking site inspections
• Monitoring construction outcomes, quality and project requirements
• Identifying technical issues and developing practical solutions
• Supporting approvals, compliance and stakeholder requirements
• Liaising professionally with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
• Working closely with senior engineers while developing your technical capability

About You

You will be a motivated Civil Engineer who enjoys civil design, practical problem solving and wants exposure to a diverse range of projects.

You will ideally have:

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering
• Practical experience in civil design is a must
• Exposure to roads, drainage, stormwater, water, subdivisions or similar projects
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• Good attention to detail and an ability to manage competing priorities
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• A practical approach to engineering and project delivery
• Current driver's licence and willingness to attend project sites

This role could suit an early-career Civil Engineer looking to build broader consulting experience, or an Engineer with several years of experience seeking greater project variety and responsibility.

Job Offer

• $75,000 – $85,000 + super, negotiable based on experience
