About the Organisation

Our client is a Queensland Government department responsible for supporting regional development, sustainable outcomes and initiatives that benefit communities across the state.

The Opportunity

Based in Townsville, this temporary full-time opportunity will see you contribute to statewide projects involving abandoned mine remediation and non-commercial water assets. You will apply your GIS and spatial data expertise to support project planning, data management, analysis and reporting, helping deliver accurate information to inform operational decisions and improve safety outcomes.

Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will support the development and maintenance of spatial datasets, GIS applications, dashboards and reporting tools. You will also assist with project coordination, risk management, data quality and stakeholder engagement, while contributing to consistent practices and knowledge sharing across the broader team.

This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis through to 30 June 2027.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience using GIS technologies, particularly ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Strong capability in spatial data management, validation, quality assurance and analysis.
  • Experience developing or maintaining GIS web applications, dashboards and spatial visualisations.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to coordinate project activities, manage competing priorities and contribute to collaborative outcomes.
  • A technical tertiary qualification, which will be highly regarded.

A current open C Class driver licence is mandatory. You must also be physically fit to undertake remote fieldwork, with travel and overnight stays potentially required.
