The Client

Our Client is a Cairns based Government Department that works across the North Queensland region. Client is looking for someone local to Cairns or a commutable distance, this role is not FIFO and it is not open to relocation as it is a temporary role.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team. If you have experience in managing costs and contracts for building projects, this role could be perfect for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide quantity surveying services to support business unit clients.
• Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates, and assessments to ensure value for money.
• Create reports and recommendations on technical matters related to economic performance.
• Assist in commissioning external consultants for capital works projects.
• Review and advise on variations and claims from external consultants.
• Prepare cost plans, estimates, and conduct tender checks.
• Manage total contract costs for assigned projects.
• Evaluate existing property valuations and research technical issues for projects.
• Resolve cost-related issues with tenderers and contractors.

About You

Requirements for this role are:

• Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction card.
• Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent, as determined by the Chief Executive
