POSITION

We have a full-time position for a Fruit Inspector available in Coorumba, QLD 4860.

SKILLS

You require at least a Certificate IV or higher qualification and at least 1-year relevant job experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your role as the Fruit Inspector is to inspect produce to comply with industry standards and government regulations regarding quarantine, organics, fruit quality, and food safety.

DUTIES

The position will require the following duties:

• Consultancy and planning with managers to meet production objectives.
• Ensuring banana production complies with Food Safety, Organic and Quarantine Standards.
• Training staff as to correct procedures in determining banana quality and grade.
• Training new staff in required positions ensuring they are aware of their duties and understanding the site’s commitment to the ongoing compliance to the Freshcare, HARPS Food Safety & Quality Standards.
• Monitoring the grading bananas as to qualify, grade and presentation.
• Testing samples of banana clusters for quality, girth and size for packaging.
• Advising management on the identification of damage to bananas cause by pest and diseases.
• Ensuring all bananas packed for hard green condition meet the hard-green condition (ICA-06) requirements.
• Checking final packed banana boxes to ensure meets the required standards.
• Ensuring packed produce are stacked, labelled, and packed for transport.
• Ensuring produce is stored at the correct cold room temperatures.
• Ensuring that required standards of hygiene are observed at storage, processing and packing facilities and in transport vehicles.
• Ensuring waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
• Ensuring farm biosecurity measures and procedures are followed.
• Additional duties may be required from time to time as required by the business.

SALARY

The salary offered will be $60,000 to $ 70,000 per annum negotiated based on your experience.
